Find the Right Equipment For Every Job

Air Movers & Drying Fans

Air movers and drying fans for water damage restoration, structural drying, carpet and underlay drying, and flood recovery. The range covers two DryTrak formats: a 4,000 CFM axial air mover with stand and a low-profile radial. Both are 2-speed and daisy-chain capable, and each is sold as 1, 5 or 10 units.

Choosing an air mover

An air mover fan handles the evaporation side of a dry. It pushes air across wet surfaces so moisture leaves the material and gets into the air, where a dehumidifier can collect it. The two main styles do different jobs:

  • Axial air movers move a large volume of air. They typically suit open areas, ventilation and big floor areas, and on a stand you can aim them at walls and ceilings.
  • Radial and low-profile air movers push a more concentrated stream close to the surface, which suits carpets, wall lines, subfloors and tight rooms.

CFM isn't the whole story. Check amp draw, operating positions and how the unit stacks in the van; low-amp units let you run more fans from one circuit. Our guide to choosing an air mover covers CFM, amps and fan types.

Setting up carpet drying fans and structural drying fans

General starting points; your drying plan and readings come first.

  • Aim air across the wet surface rather than straight into it.
  • Work the wet wall lines and edges, where water tends to sit.
  • With several fans in a room, pointing them the same way around it usually keeps air circulating.
  • Keep leads off wet floors and out of walkways.
  • Take readings at the start and on each visit, and move fans to whatever is still wet. See our moisture meters and monitoring range.

Choose the axial for volume in open areas, or the stand to get air up walls and ceilings. Choose the low-profile radial for carpets, subfloors, wall lines, hallways and tight rooms, or to fit more units in the van.

Buy or hire?

Air movers are also on our Brisbane equipment hire list on daily and weekly terms: the axial fan, the centrifugal air mover and the DryTrak radial air mover, plus the DryTrak axial air mover stand. The Drymatic Boost Bar, which attaches to an air mover to heat the airflow, is available for hire too. Collect from Acacia Ridge or ask about delivery options.

Pairing air movers with dehumidifiers

Air movers evaporate the moisture and commercial dehumidifiers collect it, so plan the two together. Extra fans without enough dehumidification can lift room humidity and slow the dry, so watch your readings. For the rest of the setup, see the water damage and structural drying hub.

Frequently asked questions

Axial or low-profile radial: which do I need?

The DryTrak Axial moves up to 4,000 CFM for open areas and comes with an adjustable stand. The DryTrak Radial Low Profile gives 700–900 CFM of directional airflow for carpets, wall lines and tight rooms, and it stacks for transport.

How much power do they draw?

Axial: 0.6A on low, 1.3A on high. Radial Low Profile: 0.7/0.9A (168W). Check the total load on each circuit before you daisy-chain.

Can air movers be daisy-chained?

Both DryTrak models are daisy-chain capable. Every unit on the chain draws from the same circuit, so add up the amps before you connect them.

How many air movers do I need?

It depends on the wet area, materials and room layout. As a starting point, cover the affected surfaces, balance them with enough dehumidification, and adjust from your moisture readings. Call 07 3568 4925 to talk a setup through.

Can I hire air movers?

Yes. The axial fan, centrifugal air mover and DryTrak radial air mover are on our Brisbane hire list, along with the DryTrak axial air mover stand.
