Carpet cleaning equipment & chemical FAQs

What chemicals do I need for hot water extraction?

A typical professional workflow uses a suitable pre-spray, agitation where required, an extraction detergent or acidic rinse, specialist spotters and a defoamer where foam may enter the recovery tank. Follow the product label and fibre-care requirements.

What is the difference between extraction and encapsulation?

Hot water extraction flushes suspended soil from the carpet using solution pressure and vacuum recovery. Encapsulation is a low-moisture method using specialised chemistry and agitation, with dried residue removed during subsequent vacuuming.

Can I use the same product on carpet and upholstery?

Only when the label confirms that application. Upholstery and fine fabrics can require lower moisture, controlled alkalinity and different tools. Test compatibility and follow the manufacturer’s directions.

How do I choose a carpet extractor?

Compare tank capacity, pump pressure, vacuum performance, heat, hose length, portability and the included tools. The right choice depends on access, job size, cleaning frequency and whether upholstery or other tools are required.
